Roof lanterns in Stevenage
Lanterns in central England see a bit of everything — summer sun that ages seals and end caps, autumn leaf fall that blocks eaves, and frosty mornings that bring condensation. A yearly check covers all three.
From St Albans to Stevenage is roughly 12 miles — all part of the Hertfordshire area we cover.
Neighbouring places we cover include Hitchin (5 miles), Letchworth Garden City (5 miles), Welwyn Garden City (7 miles).
Rules for lantern work in England
In England, like-for-like repairs to a roof lantern don't usually involve building control. A full replacement or a bigger opening is controlled under the Building Regulations 2010, so we set out the route in writing first. Listed buildings need listed building consent from the local council for alterations, and conservation areas can have extra controls; like-for-like repairs are treated differently from changes, so check with the council's conservation officer first.
