Roof lanterns in Ampthill
Most inland lantern leaks aren't storm damage; they're usually tired sealant, a lifted capping or blocked eaves drainage. All three are quick to find and fix once you know where to look.
We cover Ampthill as part of Bedfordshire, about 8 miles from Bedford.
If you're just outside Ampthill, we also cover Bedford (8 miles), Dunstable (10 miles), Leighton Buzzard (10 miles).
Do you need permission?
In England, like-for-like repairs to a roof lantern don't usually involve building control. A full replacement or a bigger opening is controlled under the Building Regulations 2010, so we set out the route in writing first. Listed buildings need listed building consent from the local council for alterations, and conservation areas can have extra controls; like-for-like repairs are treated differently from changes, so check with the council's conservation officer first.
